MAS has decided not to introduce lower priced carbon steel katanas. Currently, all our products are produced in Japan and South Korea. In order to produce lower priced swords, we have been testing various blades made by Chinese forges to find a potential partner who might be able to produce quality swords are low price. Unfortunately, our venture turned out to be rather dissapointing. The price criteria was easily met but the lack of quality control in many Chinese forges could not be resolved. We apologize to those who has been waiting for the arrival of the low price katanas. Some of the tested blades will be sold at below-cost price next month through our website.
Our stock L6 katana models will be upgraded starting September production. All base models will have Japanese silk ito handle wrap as the default option and Japanese sageo will be equipped on the saya. Also, the saya will be finished with buffalo horn pieces. The upgraded Japanese parts are imported from Namikawa Heibei Co. in Tokyo. Until the old inventory is cleared, some models might be equipped with old fittings. These models will be offered at slight discount.
We will be on a business trip between July 20 - August 11. We will be upgrading equipment at the forge in Korea then we will be in Japan to buy fittings. Any in-stock item orders and May custom orders will be shipped on August 12th. We will still have email communications and will accept custom orders. Thank you.
